Deeside Runners Challenge 2008
Following the success of the Deeside Runners Challenge
in its inaugural year (2007) it is being continued in 2008.
The Format of the Challenge is as follows:
We have made a map with 100 locations marked on it,
along with a list of their grid references and a short description. Over the rest of the year the
challenge is to visit as many of the locations as possible. At the end of the
year the person who has been to the most wins, but we will also give a prize to
anyone who gets to at least 50 of them, with a grand prize if you visit all
100. They are not difficult to find -
this is not orienteering - but you will need a better map than the reference
map on the website. Some locations are much harder than others to get to – some
involving a full-day outing while others may be within a few minutes running of
the nearest car-park. All of them however are worth a visit, and part of the
aim of the challenge is to get people out to new places, and to discover new
training runs. We will also allow mountain bikes to be used - and quite a few
could be visited without even getting off your bike.
The competition depends on the honesty of the participants - we have no way of checking whether you have done what you say - but you are encouraged to take photos and post them and your comments on the Challenge Blog
The
competition starts Saturday 19th January and runs until 31st
December.
Prizes to be awarded at the annual dinner.
